Are there any areas in English-speaking Belize where it isn’t hot and humid — and where you can be comfortable without expensive air-conditioning — throughout at least most of the year?

I have travelled extensively through out central America, but have pretty much set my retirement sights on Ecuador after two visits this year.
My question is: why is everyone so set on getting citizenship in all these forums? I realize in some areas there are discounts to senior citizens who establish residency, bit what’s the big deal. You can rent in Ecuador for next to nothing, why buy a property, CD, or establish residency in any country prone to being overthrown every 10 years or so. Keep your USA citizenship and stay a tourist. Yes, there are ways around the Visa restrictions everywhere.

How come in your many Reports – Absolutely wonderful by the way! – you publish, I have thus far not seen a single mention of fauna (e.g. snakes)?

(When I was last in Costa Rica, I attended a ‘Reptile’workshop by an eminent native scientist. That knowledge was of great help as, up until then, I didn’t
know that certain species of snakes attack, rather than
‘take off’, when they pick up footstep vibrations!)

Which regions in Panama are not oppressively hot and/or humid, but which also haven’t become as expensive as Boquete, El Valle, etc.?
